On August 4, Israeli air strikes killed 28
Syrian fruit pickers in Qaa, Lebanon. A
total of 33 bodies were recovered. The body
count included 16 children. The Syrian
Foreign Ministry sent a letter to the UN
Secretary and the UN Security saying that
Israel had "intentionally" bombed the
civilians in the Christian city of Qaa.
The American Media has largely ignored this
massacre, choosing instead to focus of the
newsest destruction of Lebanese
infrastructure and the drama of bureaucrats
and politicians. Arab media has covered the
aftermath killings in Qaa. Both the
Washington Post and the New York Times
briefly mentioned the story and offered no
follow-up.
As the incident happened close the Syrian
border and several of those killed were of
Syrian nationality, the Syrian media has
focused on the human toll of the tragedy. In
the following video clip from Syrian TV,
bodies of the dead are collected in a
make-shift morgue. The news piece also
includes reactions from the citizens of Qaa.
