John Bolton: U.S. Will Not Cooperate with International Criminal Court
Watch
National Security Adviser John Bolton
delivered remarks at the Federalist Society
in Washington, DC. He criticized the
authority and legitimacy of the
International Criminal Court (ICC) stating,
"The United States will use any means
necessary to protect our citizens and those
of our allies from unjust prosecution by
this illegitimate court. We will not
cooperate with the ICC. We will provide no
assistance to the ICC. And we certainly will
not join the ICC."
Bolton threatened ICC judges with sanctions
if they attempt to prosecute Americans over
alleged war crimes in Afghanistan. The ICC
is an intergovernmental organization based
in the Netherlands that hears cases on
genocide and other crimes against humanity.
